Back in Adi Da's Arms

Trish Mitchell
June, 2013

Trish Mitchell has been a devotee of Adi Da since 1991. She has been a radio producer, editor, and newsreader for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and a producer, presenter, and acting Executive Producer for SBS Australia. Trish lives in Australia, where she manages our Adi Da Up Close Twitter feed. You can read the story of how Trish miraculously found Adi Da here.

Trish MitchellIn January of 2006, I had a complete nervous breakdown.

There's a long story behind it, but, bottom line: I was diagnosed with work-related PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder).

From then until January, 2013, I was in a state of severe fragility, unable to work. I lost my home, had to live with family and friends, and went through years of psychiatric hospitals. The whole of 2012, I was more in hospital than out. I underwent (and suffered) shock therapy for severe depression. This was effective in the very short term, but left me with memory blanks and some mild cognitive difficulties.

Two months ago (April, 2013), I had a dream of Beloved Adi Da. This was a major breakthrough for me! I had not been able to feel Adi Da's Transmission at all for the past seven years, and I certainly had not dreamt of Him during that time.

In the dream, Adi Da was walking hurriedly, followed by a number of devotees. I saw Him from the front and ran in front of Him with my hands up, calling His Name.

He stopped. Then He opened His Arms to me.

I ran into them, and He held me to His Chest, tightly. I wept and wept. I felt His Love and His total care for me as a human being in need.

When I woke from the dream, I felt so happy, just to have had contact with Him again.

From that moment, my hellish suffering with mental illness was over. It was completely washed.

Since then I've gone from strength to strength, in a miraculous recovery. I'm no longer on prescription medication of any kind. I'm engaging in as many "alternative" practises as I can, to keep my body-mind in balance: hatha yoga, diet, natural hormones, wholistic chiropractic care, and rest.

I've retired from broadcast journalism and the high level of stress that accompanies it. Instead, I'm now doing what I love to do best: using my communication skills to advocate Beloved Adi Da.

There's more I could say, but what's important is this: I'm back in Adi Da's Arms, never to leave again. And I'm so grateful to Him.
